Good Night, and Good Luck
This makes me very happy. I loved this film. It has no action and is 100 pecent pure cerebral nirvana. LOS ANGELES (Dec. 6) - "Good Night, and Good Luck" is being recognized by the Producers Guild of America. The film will receive the 2006 Stanley Kramer Award, which honors movies that shed light on social issues, the guild announced Monday.
The film's producer and co-writer, Grant Heslov, will accept the prize at the 17th annual PGA Awards, scheduled for Jan. 22 in Los Angeles.
"Good Night, and Good Luck" chronicles the real-life conflict between TV news anchorman Edward R. Murrow and Sen. Joseph McCarthy in the 1950s. Murrow and his CBS colleagues used the news as a forum to reveal the senator's scaremongering tactics as he attempted to rid the nation of communists.
"There has never been a more appropriate moment to appreciate the legacy of Edward R. Murrow," PGA Awards co-chairs Bruce Cohen and Stacy Sher said in a statement.
Previous recipients of the Stanley Kramer Award include "Hotel Rwanda," "Innocent Voices," "In America," "Antoine Fisher" and "I Am Sam."
