Frida

Frida
I don't remember when I beaded this (2002 maybe?), but it's based on Frida Kahlo's painting entitled "Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and HummingBird," 1940.

I love beading as much as I do knitting, but I love them in different ways. One is passionate love and one is peaceful love. It's hard to describe. Let me work out in my brain what the difference is, and I'll see if I can't elaborate in the future.

Joy, I'm glad you like it! This one is actually a framed piece in my bedroom and I'm pretty attached to it. But I will think about making another one, you never know. I'll post some of my other beaded pieces.

That really is beautiful. Do you do mosaics?

Thanks guys. No, I don't do mosaics, just bead work and knitting. It's hard to stay how long it took, Pix, because I would work on it for a while, set it down for several days, and then come back to it. Plus, I totally lose track of time when I'm working on it, so it's really hard to say.

JA - I've beaded many amulet purses. This one might have been one, but I decided to do it flat. Thanks for the nice words.
