The Other Side of the Mirror
About Me
- Name: LA
- Location: Southern California
I often find myself going through life, shaking my head in disbelief at what I see. And then sometimes I am awed by something so stunningly beautiful that I'm breathless. I hope to document both here.

We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must remember always that accusation is not proof and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. We will not walk in fear of one another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate and to defend causes that were, for the moment, unpopular. - Edward R. How big of a lot does something like this sit? Is it less than an acre?
Flix - Californians barely know what an acre is because none of our houses have much land, especially at the beach. I couldn't really estimate the dimensions on the ocean-front lots, but I think ours is like 150 x 40. We have long, skinny lots at the beach, and much of the architecture reflects those dimensions. Less than an acre? Oh hell yeah!
Go here for an aerial of my little town to get some perspective. I'm sure it will look much different from what you are used to.
That image is sort of funny. They're all so long and narrow, they all look like mobile homes :) Gotta do what ya gotta do I guess :) "Yes, I have a beach view.. it may only be 2 feet wide, but I can see it!!"
Yeah, those actually look like quarter-acre lots. Maybe less. Some areas along our coast have been developed like that. (But never inland.)
Most New England towns now require 2 acre building losts to combat sprawl and preserve rural character.
