Week One of Fall TV

My, times have really changed. Only a year and a half ago, my television was in a perpetual state of unplug unless I rented a movie which was a twice-yearly event in a big year. Now, I subscribe to Netflix and I'm planning my life around the new fall lineup and having my brother email me the overnights (ratings). WTF is that all about?

Here's my brief run-down on the new shows I caught this week:

Big Bang Theory - Surprisingly funny.

Private Practice - Sucks donkey balls.

Big Shots - Decided to skip it at the 11th hour.

Dirty Sexy Money - So far, my favorite new show. The Darlings remind me of the Bluths from Arrested Development, and the fact that one of the characters is a tranny (but not a tranny hooker) played by a real-life transgendered actor is the kind of forward thinking I can get behind. The premiere episode was directed by Peter Horton, and I always love his work.

Reaper - Only caught the first half (of the first episode directed by Kevin Smith), but it looks good. I'll be back next week.

I'm looking forward to Pushing Daisies next week, and yes, I'm going to watch Cavemen at least once (before it's canceled), even though I know it's going to be worse than Private Practice. Donkey balls, people!

So, what new shows are you trying out this season?

Right now I'm watching Moonlight - about a vampire PI . . . we'll see!

I am not sure I can say I liked Big Shots, though it has a good cast

I thought Dirty, Sexy Money was pretty good and also has a great cast

I wish I had new shows to watch. But after being burned last year (or was it two years ago) with Studio 60, I'm not really watching any new shows. I'm still into House and The Office and I'm thinking I might leave Grey's. I abandoned Desperate Housewives last year because it got awful. Although, because my schedule has changed and I'm home earlier now, I have picked up watching The Young and the Restless everyday. Can you believe that Phyllis is in JAIL?

Prunella - Wednesdays at 10, also available free online on ABC.com.

Diane - I've seen so many ads for Dexter. Everyone's talking about it.

Mishy - Wasn't the first Office great?

BIg Bang Theory... dunno, haven't heard about it

You know my feelings about Out of Practice.

Big Shots... who is in that?

Dirty Sexy Money... turned it off after 5 minutes I was bored.

Looking forward to pushing Daisies, but WILL NOT watch Caveman.

I was pissed with the season opener of LAW & ORDER:SVU. Got bored and fell asleep.

You Know my ass can't wait for some Cold Case, DH, and Bros and Hos on Sunday. A 3 hour block of television. I feel gross, but i don't give a flyin' eff.

I need to start watching 30 Rock. I found this gem of a youtube video and I have watched it a few times. Makes me laugh every single time. I LOVE TINA FEY!

"The Love Life of Liz Lemon"

My FAVORITE LINES -

LIZ -"WHAT MADE YOU THINK I WAS GAY?"
JACK- "YOUR SHOES."
LIZ -"WELL I'M STRAIGHT"
JACK- "THOSE SHOES ARE DEFINITELY BI-CURIOUS"

HAHA!!!!

Is the 1st Season of 30 Rock on DVD yet?

Ryan - I'm in the middle of watching Season One of 30 Rock right now (at Diane's recommendation for which I am most appreciative). It's great! I'd seen a few episodes and liked it, but watching it from the beginning pulls it all together and now it all makes sense.

That "bi-curious" comment was a scream.

Here is my breakdown for this season:

Mon: The CBS comedies. (From the network that still rocks Letterman out of the original Ed Sullivan theatre.)

Tues: CBS again. NCIS if I can catch it. The Unit always.

Wed: Nothing yet.

Thur: Grey's is out. Yes I am sorry. How did one of the best dramatic television series plummet to a simple waste of an hour? I dunno. But after 15 minutes, it was really clear. Boring.
Fortunately The Office still rules.

Friday remains my PBS night.

Sat: I am glad PK mentioned SNL!! When I can catch it, it's been great. (Tonight was hilarious!!)

Sun: Is all about the NFL.

I watched some of Pushing Daisies. I liked it, it's different, which is always enjoyable. Thanks for the info about DSM.
