Sweet Craftsman in the LBC

This is a home in Long Beach in a neighborhood called Carroll Park. It's usually called "the historic neighborhood of Carroll Park." Unless you live here, it's a relatively unknown neighborhood, but it's a pocket of homes that are amazing for their architectural interest, the California Craftsman being prominently featured here, in Carroll Park, and throughout Long Beach. I'm a fan.

The Craftsman era in the US created the best homes, and what influenced Wright to create the Prairie, of course.
I love the built-ins, the flow from room to room and the gumwood wood work in a lot of them.
Did you know that there was a time you could buy a Craftsman house and have it delivered to your site? From Sears?

I love Craftsman!
My momma lives in Ventura area and there are lots of historical Craftsman homes.
About 10 years ago, they were sort of affordable for a broken down fixer upper.
I could kick myself for not scraping enough together to buy one.
Now, they are on the moon!
Oh, and off topic: how is the singing going?
Are you ready?
:)
Mike - I had no idea that Sears would sell and deliver a craftsman to your door, but that web page was totally great! ^5 on the excellent trivia!
Bird - I hear ya. I wish I had gotten into the real estate market at all. And the new song is going great for me, thanks for asking. I hope the bass player learns it in time, there's only 1.5 more weeks now till the gig!
ffleur - you're in Seattle, right?
Well, not really to your door, they sent the door with the house.. :)
Damn, that's a sweet house.
Matt - This place is fantastic.
Mike - ;)
