The Other Side of the Mirror
About Me
- Name: LA
- Location: Southern California
I often find myself going through life, shaking my head in disbelief at what I see. And then sometimes I am awed by something so stunningly beautiful that I'm breathless. I hope to document both here.

We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must remember always that accusation is not proof and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. We will not walk in fear of one another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate and to defend causes that were, for the moment, unpopular. - Edward R. You are seriously making me homesick for California.
great photos!
There are zero houses around here that look like that. I may be in love with house #1.
I am TOTALLY IN LOVE with Spanish architecture.
Mish - These houses were *probably* all built in the 1920s or so. Considering there are very few Spanish settlers in your part of the world, I'm not surprised that you don't have houses that look like this. Number 1 is fantastic, but I'm also in love with #3.
If you look carefully at #4, you'll see it's a duplex (two addresses on the front you might have to click to enlarge to see that).
I am with you on #3. The landscaping is very professional. It allows light and privacy.
Living in Southern CA now, I have really come to love actual vintage Spanish revival and the like.
It's come up close to my love for the Craftsmen designs (which, of course, here in Southern CA is often built in the same era).
In the Bay Area, most Spanish style homes are hideous McMansions and the like.
Thankfully, we have the real thing here..
