I saw former California Governor George Deukmejian tonight at a pizza place in Long Beach. What does that say about me that I recognized him? Yeah, I know... FREAK!
I think we Californians only really remember Deukmejian. Was he the cashier behind the counter. I always wondered what he ended up doing after his stint in public office.
I think that's pretty cool. I couldn't even tell you who the currant governor of Tennessee is, I just remember it's some guy that I didn't vote for. (slinks off to hide head in shame)
I didn't remember him, but I am not from California. (Not like I could recall any governors from Washington where I did grow up). My big political sighting was seeing Ronald Reagen walking on the boardwalk between Venice and Santa Monica piers. It was post presidency and pre-death. In other words, he was clearly not all there.
I often find myself going through life, shaking my head in disbelief at what I see. And then sometimes I am awed by something so stunningly beautiful that I'm breathless. I hope to document both here.

The bigger question, which pizza place?
I consider myself politically savvy, but I had never heard of Deukmejian. I read his wiki profile, and like many of his views.
But you're not a freak, LA.
What's the saying: If you have nothing good to say about someone ...
Deukmejian will be mainly remembered for the famous/infamous 1982 election vs Tom Bradley.
Being a Cdn, it is not required I know who the Calif governors are but: I have heard of Jerry Brown, Ronald Regan and Ahnuld.
that is all.

ffleur - That's pretty good!
Ryan - He's an attorney. He's also in his very late 70s.
V - The Bradley Effect, a very interesting phenon. I'm impressed by your memory.
Hey, you're an informed California voter, nothing wrong with that!
