I Heart Daddy

How effing cute is my niece going to look in this? Ten more weeks 'til Baby A.

Finally saw Juno last night (thanks, Netflix), and I'm getting ready to settle in with Lars and the Real Girl as soon as I post this. Finished reading Running With Scissors last night, digging into Girls Like Us next, and then on to the 800-page Halberstam book I mentioned in my last entry. Girls Like Us is a bio of Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell and Carole King.

I think I'm burying myself in books and movies because real life is so horrifying. Between the hideous teen beating in Florida (not to mention news that the dreaded Dr. Phil posted bail for one of the accused assailants) and the polygamist Mormons in Texas, not to mention the ongoing nightmare in Iraq, it's small wonder that we're a society of escapists. And while we're at it, it's okay with me if Texas and Florida go ahead and secede from the Union. Yeah, I said it.

Totally adorable outfit for Ava. I saw Lars in NYC and totally dug it.

I'm with you on the escaping . . .

And with letting Texas and Florida float into the Gulf

I love baby clothes. For no other reason than to pick them out, I buy them all the time hoping someone I know will have a baby soon. I can't believe it's only 10 weeks although I know the Mama To Be probably can!

I have to admit, that bullying in Florida was really disturbing for me. I have a hard time hearing about any news that involves kids being brutal to kids. It makes me lose hope in the future generations.

Oh babies! I just love that brand new smell. That is an adorable onesie. It's making my uterus throb.

I am obsessed with the polygamist wives. I don't know what I find more offensive, their whacked beliefs or their hideous hairdos.

Pru - What about their high-necked, long-sleeved, full-length frocks? If I had to wear something like that while working in the Texas sun, I'd kill a bitch in under 2 seconds flat.

It's great your family has such a short time until the newest member arrives!!

And I can only take the news in small doses.

I try to stay as uninformed with the news as possible and it still seeps through because I know about all the stuff you wrote about. I'm all for escapism (started another David Sedaris book last night). And yes, Texas and Florida can go away now, please.

i dunno. i don't think it would be so bad to have extra wives around to babysit the brats and do the dishes. but those outfits are all kinds of wrong.
