Izzy Knits

I'm just coming out of a terrible knitting slump. The last 3-4 months have been horrendous for my creative juice. At my Stitch 'n' Bitch group, I spend 99 percent of my time bitching and only 1 percent actually stitching. But the spark is coming back, and my hands are itching for yarn again.

So I went into my local yarn shop earlier tonight to get a little help on a project that has been stalled. It didn't take long for a couple of the employees to tell me that Katherine Heigl (Izzy Stevens on Grey's Anatomy) had been in MY yarn store just this weekend where she dropped several hundred dollars on cashmere. The LBC is just far enough outside of LA proper that I don't see that many celebrities here. The last celeb I saw in my yarn shop was this D-lister. Yeah, I almost wet my pants, too.

Hey - that's pretty cool - especially since you are such a big Grey's fan! I'm hoping my slump is ending soon too - I have ordered yarn and patterns for an embarassing number of baby projects for my pregnant friend, and also got the yarn for a charity baby blanket. I picked up a couple of interesting knitting books this past weekend too . . .

Hopefully, both of our creative juices will be flowing again now . . . :-)

I wish I could knit. I'd make a cashmere throw for my bed. Yuuuummmm cashmere. (drools)

Any celebrity sighting is fun. Did you talk to her?

I bet the employee in the yarn store is telling everyone about her celebrity sighting. I'd be calling up people I didn't know to tell them.

Question: Why does Vicki Lawrence's website look like it was created by a fourth grader? It's so bad!

Truth: I've never had a celebrity sighting. Well, once I walked past Nelly Furtado, but that was when she was only sorta famous in Canada. Boring!

Did the words "knitting slump" come out of your mouth?

Pru - Nah, I wasn't in the shop when she was there.

Mish - I know for her a fact that VL's husband is her webmaster. I know it's not very professional looking, but he's a nice guy, so I'm gonna cut him some slack.

Edit - 'fraid so. If you sift through my archives, you'll find mention of knitting camp and yarn-buying vacations.

I had a series of celeb sighting while living in NYC, but would trade those in for a Izzy sighting!!

Maybe if you do eventually see her, you could invite her to your "Bitch & Stitch" club!!

knitting rules!

I wanted to get in on this trend but I lack the patience, yet have the creativity.

My sis is the opposite and produces great scarves and hats( I am jealous)

Knitting takes determination, I guess..cause I stink at it!

keep working on it LA!

Flix - What a great idea, to invite Izzy to SnB!

Pixie - Ahh, to be young and unfettered by bad 70s television!

bird and PK - I, too, have lots of knit hats and scarves and gloves. We got cold in SoCal!

This is such a great story. I would leave a business card at the shop where you guys buy your knitting supplies. Give it to the sales lady to give to Katherine!
That would be the greatest thing ever!
