Sweet Crib in the Hood

Check it out. Jack White's house in Detroit is for sale. Okay, it's in Grosse Pointe Park, not exactly 8 Mile, but it's still all Detroit, baby. The website provides many photos of all the details, plus the history of the home. The only thing missing is the list price.

UPDATE: Mishy found the price! (Good eye, Mishy.) It's a steal at $930,000. Price is all relative. In Southern California, you couldn't touch a house like that for under $4-5 million. I need to move.

Bye, Ryan

Short and sweet and a bit disjointed Rockstar wrap-up tonight because I need some sleep, and there's nothing eloquent coming from my cerebrum right now.

I was never on Team Ryan, so tonight's elimination was cool with me. I was worried Storm would be eliminated and miss her chance to perform an original song, so I'm really happy she's still around.

I was thrilled to see my boy get the encore, and OMG, the audience was eating him up. That was beautiful. His momentum is like a runaway train right now.

I felt Lukas sounded good on the SN tune, but the song sucked, don't you agree? It was cool that Magni was the only rocker left sitting, and I'm only guessing, but I bet he'll perform with SN next.

I was pleased that Dilana hit the bottom three. I thought she phoned in Psycho Killer (an old favorite of mine), and had elimination been based solely on the three performances tonight, she'd be holed up in a Hollywood hotel tonight, out of the mansion, and on her way home.

I made it the whole day without the spoilers. That's right, I actually watched the show unfettered. I haven't done it that way in weeks, but I truly enjoyed it. It will take willpower I probably don't have, but I'm going to attempt to finish out the season without spoilers. Please don't mock me when I fail.

So the top three rockers turned out to be Magni, Lukas, and Toby. My sister and I agreed that will probably turn out to be the final three of the whole series. Discuss?

Rockstar's over in two weeks, and after that, I swear to god, I don't know what's going to occupy my brain or my blog. This show hooked me like crack and I'm seriously concerned about withdrawal. Maybe I'll write Rockstar haiku.

I've been listening to The Panic Channel these days, check them out.

'Night.

Who Is Going Home Tonight?

I had taped Rockstar and watched it when I got home last night. What a great episode with the exception of the Dilana ass-kissing. Who do you think is going home tonight?

I'll go first.

I think it's Storm.

I'm going to do my best today to not read the spoilers.

(Blogger sucks today. I'll try to upload the photo I have for this later.)

Dave's Encore

If Dave Grohl ever breaks his hands and loses his voice, boyfriend has a career ahead of him in stand-up comedy. I've never laughed so much at a concert. He loves to talk, it's great. He did something I've never heard of him doing in the eleven years since Kurt Cobain died... he introduced a song by telling a long and detailed Nirvana story. Pretty sweet.

And this is for GetFlix who says that we Angelenos have a special talent for dropping names. Lance Armstrong was at the show and stood about 15 feet from me as he waited to gather up his skanky date before they went to their seats. And no, his date wasn't Matt or Jake. He was kind of smaller than I expected, although you could see that he was pretty ripped underneath his grey T-shirt. Good times at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood.

Foo Fighters

Foo Fighters including Pat Smear (far left), Rami Jaffee on keys, and Petra Hayden on violin (red dress, next to Grohl), in addition to the usual suspects (namely, the actual present members of the band).

Dave Grohl

Grohl took the stage and got a standing ovation before he even did anything. Awesome.

Rami Jaffee and Frank Black

Rami Jaffee on accordian and Frank Black on acoustic guitar.

Crack Ho

I admit it, I'm addicted to Toby's ass. Here's another view of it shot Friday at Universal City Walk.

Here are the song spoilers this week. Stop reading now if you don't want to know what's in store on Rockstar Supernova tonight. The bad news is, I'm going to miss it because I'll be at the Foo Fighters. The good news is, I'm going to miss it because I'll be at the Foo Fighters.

The sad truth is, by the time Tuesday rolls around, I've read so many spoilers about the performances, nothing is a surprise. I'm going to try very hard not to read the elimination spoilers this week (I've known the eliminations for the past four out of eight weeks before actually watching the show).

Storm is a freaking amazon woman. You guys know she's 6 foot 1, right? Love her!

Okay, without further ado, here are the tunes.

Lukas - Lithium - Nirvana
Magni - I, Alone - Live
Ryan - Clocks - Coldplay
Storm - Bring Me Back to Life - Evanescance (Toby duets with her)
Toby - Rebel Yell - Billy Idol
Dilana - Mother Mother - Tracy Bonham

Baby, You Can't Drive My Car

BEIJING (Aug. 28) - A woman in Hohhot (!), the capital of north China's Inner Mongolia region, crashed her car while giving her dog a driving lesson, the official Xinhua News Agency said Monday.

No injuries were reported although both vehicles were slightly damaged, it
said.

The woman, identified only be her surname, Li, said her dog "was fond of
crouching on the steering wheel and often watched her drive," according to
Xinhua.

"She thought she would let the dog 'have a try' while she operated the
accelerator and brake," the report said. "They did not make it far before
crashing into an oncoming car."

Xinhua did not say what kind of dog or vehicles were involved but Li paid
for repairs.

Only in Hohhot!

More Supernova

Toby, Dilana, and longtime LA DJ, Richard Blade, a few weeks back.

MTV just celebrated, what, it's 20th or 25th anniversary or something? We've become a very visually-oriented culture which is why I recommend you go here and listen to the Supernova performances without the accompanying video. I think you'll be surprised at the difference. You'll discover who's pitchy, who's strong, who's not as good as you think they are. That said, Toby's is an even better singer than I thought (and it's no secret I was high on him in the first place). (And Gilby Clark's background vocals are abysmal.)

Toby Rand is the Center of the Universe

UPDATE: Some of the links below give an error message. Go to this index to see anything on Rockstar Supernova without having to endure the lead-ins and ads from the official site. END UPDATE

Last time I posted, I was getting pretty bored and annoyed with Rockstar. But now, my enthusiasm has been completely renewed. The reason? Toby Rand.

Yes, Toby.

Let's just pause and reflect upon Toby.

This past week, I loved his performance on Layla (dig that song anyway), and then the next night, I again loved both him with Supernova and then doing his elimination song, Plush.

You know what else? I totally think he's going to win now. I thought he looked and sounded perfect with Supernova. I loved his voice and style on the song they gave him. At the end when they all came down the catwalk with Brooke Burke and stood there for a few seconds, it was like, snap a picture, ladies and gentlemen, this is Supernova. It was a total Jerry Maguire moment where you could just hear the SN guys say, "Toby, you complete us." If you want to see Toby's performance with Supernova, click here.

My thoughts on Supernova? It's Motley Crue II. They'll be fun, but it's not art or anything. I thought the second song they debuted with Toby was a lot catchier than the one they did the week before with Dilana which I really hated. If you would like to compare the two performances, here's Dilana's, complete with choreography and dancing girls. You may not be able to see the cheese, but I think you can smell it.

Okay, speaking of Dilana, I guess it's time to go there. I started watching the show week #2, and I've gone back through YouTube and the archives to catch the early performances I've missed. If you peruse the archives, you can see all the reality episodes and other behind-the-scenes tape including songwriting clinics, etc. It's good fun if you're a fan who has high-speed internet connection. In the beginning, I was totally on the Dilana bandwagon, particularly week 3 when she performed Zombie.

Around week 6, however, I started getting bored. I really disliked the song she wrote at the individual songwriting clinic that week, and the stench of Velvetta started to set in. I think Magni and Ryan hit the nail on the head during the elimination show this week when they told her she hadn't grown at all since the first week. I know the ennui had hit me hard before this past week, the week of big drama. I already wrote extensively last week about how much I disliked her performance with Supernova. That was like the nail in the Dilana coffin for me.

So this week's (week 8) reality episode features Dilana dissing every rocker, one by one, during a media clinic. When elimination night aired, they showed some highlights from that reality episode plus additional footage from "back at the mansion" where she's telling Ryan that he'd be nowhere without the house band. Basically, she's being portrayed as the biggest bitch to walk the planet, and it's big, big drama for all. My brother was sending me text messages saying, "I want to murder the bitch!" and everyone's got their hate on.

My personal opinion is that this is reality television at it's finest. Now that they are down to six remaining singers and the show ends in three weeks, the girl who has flown by for two months without a single tiny criticism from the judges suddenly falls from grace. In fact, she falls hard; plummets, even. To me, the whole scenario is a little suspicious. I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I think Mark Burnett Productions definitely created drama, likely through editing (for example, perhaps every single rocker commented on every other one, but we only saw hers?) and at the same time, I also don't think Dilana was an innocent victim at all. How this will ultimately play out for her, I do not know. Just fodder for thought. It's good television for sure, but honestly, I hate being manipulated like this.

Moving on, we haven't enjoyed a photo of Toby in a couple paragraphs, and frankly, I need to feed the beast.

A few words about Storm. I think she's awesome. I kind of don't want her to get the Supernova gig because that's not what she's all about, and I'd like to see her take the fantastic exposure she's received from being on Rockstar and continue to pursue her original music and go on to superstardom. I've been reading the message boards at her website where I've found links to radio interviews with Storm, etc., and I've come away a huge fan. Check her original music here, Ladylike in particular. I love, love, love this.

Last night, the six remaining rockers played a free outdoor show at Universal City Walk (I think this was a Richard Blade-hosted event, Angelenos will know who I'm talking about). I didn't go, but video is showing up on YouTube as I type this, and here are a couple links below. If you click on the links below, they will lead you to other links from performances last night including a pretty rocking rendition of Sweet Child of Mine that features all six remaining rockers. Though it's not looking good, there's a possibility I could go to the taping of next week's performance show tomorrow (they tape those on Sunday afternoons, BTW) which would really work out great because I'm going to the Foo Fighters on Tuesday night this week. This week is "viewers' choice" week.

Here's Toby at Universal City Walk singing White Wedding.

Toby and Magni at City Walk singing Where the Streets Have No Name.

Finally, here are Toby and Magni performing U2's With or Without You.

Losing Interest

I thought I'd be happier to see Zayra leave Rockstar. But the truth is, I'm ambivalent. And I think it's because I'm becoming less and less interested in Rockstar Supernova each week. Oh, don't get me wrong, I'll watch it to the end, I'm too invested at this point to walk away without seeing it through. Plus, I have to see if Toby makes good on his promise to run naked down Melrose.

But goddamn, did you guys see Supernova play tonight? They are FUCKING CHEESE! I didn't expect them to be great or anything. I'd characterize my expectations to be pretty neutral. But that display tonight was craptastic, from the song that was pure garbage, to Dilana's coordinated moves with the horrible, horrible dancing girls, to the super 8 effect, it was all bad. Really bad. And I was disappointed. I guess I shouldn't be, I suppose I knew deep down that it could suck that hard. But really, that exceeded my lowest expectations.

While we're on the subject of Dilana, I might as well just go there. I'm losing the love for her a little bit more each week, and tonight, it totally bottomed out. It's hard to put my finger on what exactly it is that's pushing me away, but something definitely is. I'm less and less impressed with her performances as time goes on. I was blown away by Lithium and Zombie, but when she sang with SN tonight, I could barely watch. I literally kept averting my eyes.

So now that there are only seven remaining singers, the competition can get a little bit more serious. I think it's a given that Patrice is next to go. She's been in the bottom three something like four times in seven weeks. Everyone else remaining is really talented, and as long as Supernova stays off the stage, the rest of the performances should be really good. I don't know who is most disappointed to see Zayra's elimination tonight, Jason Newsted or Michael K.

Oh, and did you see what Dave Navarro wrote in his blog today? He wrote, "P.S. Just to set the record straight, I am currently not dating ANYONE." So much for the Jenna Jameson rumors!

Construction Zone

This is the view off the deck to my bedroom these days. The little bungalow behind me has stripped down to framing, and it looks like they are going all the way, filling up their backyard with house and building a big two story. You might be wondering why they didn't just level their house, and the answer lies in the tax code and the difference between reassessing your house if you "add on" versus "build new." But who cares? That's really boring. So the story here is I don't need an alarm clock anymore because the construction workers start making serious noise at 7:00 am sharp. I get some shots from the front, and we can follow this total remodel to completion. I regret I didn't know what they were doing ahead of time because I would have enjoyed taking a couple "before pictures." They house they tore down was actually really cute, but it was probably no more than 1000 square feet.

Here are two very spoiled kitties who pretend they don't like each other. But every time I look up, they have found a way to enjoy each other's company without actually touching. They don't fool me at all. Alfie's on the floor, Phoebe's on the ottoman with the leg hanging off the side. Cleo is the indifferent one. She was probably laying in the sock drawer when this shot was taken.

RS/SN Week 7 *Song Spoilers*

This week on Rockstar Supernova, it's all unplugged. Here's the song list.

Zayra – Lluvia De Mar (original song)
Magni – Starman (David Bowie)
Patrice – Message in a Bottle (The Police)
Lukas – Hero (Chad Kroeger)
Storm – I Will Survive (Gloria Gaynor)
Toby – Solsbury Hill (Peter Gabriel) – with Gilby on acoustic guitar
Ryan – In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins)
Dilana – Cat’s in the Cradle (Harry Chapin)

Toby and Dilana both wanted to do the same song, so Dilana agreed to let Toby have it if he would strip down nekkid and run around the pool. (Magni yells out, "We need a fluffer!" Damn, his English is really spectacular!) So Toby dropped trou, and ladies, we all owe Dilana a note of gratitude. If you go to the official site, you can see the "webisode," to watch the streaking and the junket to Vegas. Good times.

If the Foo Shits, Wear It

Dave Grohl is one of the coolest guys in music today. I'm seeing the Foo Fighters at the end of this month, and I can hardly wait. This is Dave keeping it real in a recent interview:

Q: Do any of your songs make you cringe now?

DG: Well, the record One By One, there's some questionable shit on that. A song like "Burn Away," I was in love with my future wife and had some romantic fucking prom ballad. Ugh! We'd never play that fucking shit live.

The PT Lofts

So I've been following this project for about six months now, and things are progressing.

Several months ago, the Long Beach Press Telegram (a daily newspaper) sold its 1925 building to developers who intend to renovate it and turn it into one of twin towers of nearly 500 new urban lofts. The developers have been slowly but surely getting their plan through the planning commission and city council, and it looks like construction is going to start by year's end.

For the last year or so, I've been overcome with the need to buy a home, almost to the point of serious panic and anxiety, both of which (P&A) are totally uncharacteristic of my natural disposition. The PT Loft project is my best hope for the future in terms of being able to stay local and still buy a decent home in a desirable neighborhood. The real estate market here in LA has definitely softened, but it's still frighteningly prohibitive. For example, as of last month only 12 percent of homeowners in LA County could actually afford to (re-)buy their own home. That's really scary. I'm a single woman with a single income, so it's that much harder for me, because when you get down to it, two really can live as cheaply as one, which makes it fucked if you're one.

Downtown Long Beach is going through a serious redevelopment boom which you can read about here. I've specifically targeted the PT Lofts for many reasons including budget, scale, timing, and location. Recently, I've done some of the leg work to assure that my reality is in line with my plan, and it looks like I can actually swing this. Here are some renderings of the proposal. I can't wait.

Dilana the Pop Star?

I don't know how old this is, but I hear it was big in Europe back in the day.

Anyway, I haven't written about the double elimination from Wednesday night because it wasn't too controversial in my book. Jill and Josh were both destined to leave the show sooner than later, and as far as I'm concerned, they can do a triple elimination next week... Zayra, Patrice, and Ryan. Yes, I said it. Ryan. He can sing, sure, but after carefully listening to him speak the other night, I have the clear and distinct impression he's not really interested in fronting this band.

I see the final five as Magni, Dilana, Storm, Lukas, and Toby.

Final three? Magni, Dilana, Lukas. Nothing against Storm and Toby, it's just I think they fit SN less than the rest.

Final two? I don't know. I thought it would come down to Lukas and Dilana, but Magni seems to really be growing on the Supernova guys, and I can't dismiss that chemsitry that appears to be genuine and real. He's the consumate musician, and I don't know if that will help him or hurt him.

Now, here's the real scoop. According to the rumor mill, and I have no idea if this is accurate or not, but the thing I'm hearing is that there's trouble within Supernova, and that Gilby and Tommy want to dump Jason. I read this somewhere in the last few days, but to be honest, it was something I was kind of wondering about. Jason seems to be the third man out. In fact, Tommy and Gilby seem more interested in hanging with Dave Navarro than they do Jason. Anyway, that's my head's up for you. Stay tuned.

Unconfirmed Rockstar Spoiler

Word on the street is that it's a double elimination tonight and that Zayra is NOT one of them! That's all I know (so far).

I CAN'T WAIT!

RS/SN Performances Week 6

I'm tired and I'm not going to write a full recap tonight but just hit on a couple quick points. It was a great performance show. I think now that they've shed some dead weight, the whole thing was kicked up a notch. My faves this week were Lukas, Toby, Magni (the Magnanimous), and Dilana. Loved them! I'm sure Lukas has the encore locked.

I think the bottom three will be come from these four:
Josh
Jill
Zayra
Patrice

But if they have five people stand up, who will be the fifth? Will it be Ryan or Storm?

See, this is why it's getting interesting. If they continue to have five people stand up on Wednesday night's elimination show, they're going to be reaching into the real talent this week. Ryan and Storm are both strong contenders, but I think they were the "middle two," if you will, this time around. Neither of them should have to stand, but it's going to be interesting if one of them does.

Jill didn't butcher the Tracy Bonham song as bad as I was afraid she would, but she was so busy posing as a tough chick, she didn't sing it well either. Is this finally the end of Jill? God, I hope so. Josh was really weak, too. Gilby gave him props which might save him, but I don't see why it should. I wasn't that impressed with Patrice on the Lennon song, but I was impressed with her songwriting (see the web episode to hear the songwriting challenge).

Zayra. What can I say? She dressed up as Ziggy Star(dust), and from the neck up, she was a combination of Liza Minnelli and Cher. No wonder the gays love her. As usual, she was way off key, and it pains me to listen to that. I'm scrubbing my ears with Ajax before I go to bed to get the rot off.

The next four weeks should be the end of Jill, Josh, Patrice, and Zayra (alphabetized). It doesn't matter what order they go, they should be the next four gone. Then, the competition will be fierce. I can't wait.

A Moving Target is Hard to Hit

Here's another shot of an interesting piece of architecture in the LBC from my Saturday afternoon drive.

I decided to pimp some sites you may have otherwise never heard about. Not the usual suspects like Dlisted or Lainey, but some more obscure places that I enjoy for various reasons.

Beginning with celebrity gossip with a twist, check out the genius that is The Gilded Moose. The Moose lives up to its tagline - Gossip for Smart People. I particularly enjoy regular features like "When Paparazzi Express Their Creativity" and again here as well as randon posts like Paris Hilton Ascends to Heaven; Patron Saint of Ferrets. Check out the Hall of Fame for such gems as Sharon Stones Demands 51 Percent of Ewing Oil and Jennifer Aniston Gives Shout Out to Her Niggas. One great thing about the Moose is its dedication to the ongoing adventures of Jake Gyllenhaal.

A couple other celebrity gossip sites that I appreciate because they never, ever lose their voice are Defamer and The Bastardly.

Defamer is totally irreverent and I love the comments (and unless you're an industry insider, you won't be able to comment, it's that exclusive). They are having a field day with Mel Gibson, and they're always spot-on with recent gems like Tori Spelling Flags Down Camera Crew to Bemoan Lack of Privacy and Burgergate: What Makes Ellen Pompeo Thin.

The Bastardly is written by a couple straight-up horn dogs talking about famous (and infamous) women and the fantasies they're having about them. I should be mortally offended by The Bastardly, and to a degree, I am; but it's genius in it's own sick way, and I appreciate the unabashed and unedited look into the mind of the heterosexual male. I love the ongoing series, Jay Leno is a Horny Bastard not to mention the brown-bagging of "buttaface" celebs.

As an answer to the bastards at The Bastardly is Don't Date Him, Girl!

RS/SN Week 6 *Spoiler Alert*

I shot some houses this week in the LBC. This is a beauty on 1st Street with a high-rise growing out of it!

Anyway, here are the songs for the week six performance show tomorrow night. Early word is that Lukas killed his song and probably earned the encore. I expected he'd come back strong after a bad week last week. On the reality episode (www.rockstar.msn.com) during the songwriting clinic, he totally blew them away with his song. Toby and Ryan looked strong, too. Sadly, Dilana's song did not wow. Neither did Jill's, but that was to be expected. They didn't show Zayra's (damnit), but maybe it will be up on the Rockstar site tomorrow.

Okay, here's the line-up:

Dilana - Won't Get Fooled Again (The Who) - with Gilby on guitar
Jill - Mother Mother (Tracy Bonham)
Ryan - Paint It Black (The Rolling Stones)
Storm - We Are the Champions (Queen)
Zayra - All the Young Dudes (David Bowie/Mott the Hoople)
Josh - Interstate Love Song (Stone Temple Pilots) - with Tommy on drums
Magni - The Dolphin's Cry (Live)
Patrice - Instant Karma (John Lennon)
Lukas - Creep (Radiohead)
Toby - Burning Down the House (Talking Heads)

I hear Ryan goes for broke in the "unexpected performance" category. I can only imagine Zayra singing All the Young Dudes. That's just going to be bananas. I love the Tracy Bonham song, but it's a screamer to begin with, so I shudder to think what Jill's going to do with it. Just analyzing this list, I gotta think the bottom three will include least Jill and Zayra, but heaven knows I've been wrong before. I think Josh will be invisible with Tommy on drums, and I'm a little worried for Patrice doing the Lennon tune. Hey, did you notice there is no Nirvana this week? I predict that coming out of the bottom three, if Toby's got anything to show at all, he's going to bring it this week. Oh, I also understand that Magni does a lovely guitar solo on his tune.

It was power dining in Manhattan Beach tonight as the owner of Mama D's hosted the owner of Harry O's at his table. WTF is up with these names, anyway? I had the halibut at a nearby table. Good times.

Elvis' Teddy All Shook Up by Hound Dog

My sister woke me from sleep this morning with a phone call to tell me this story. Someone whose name is not Einstein decided it would be a good idea to have a dog guarding a valuable teddy bear collection. The guard dog in question, Barney, naturally did what any dog would do in a room full of stuffed animals - he shredded them to pieces, probably with delightful abandon (dear God, please let there be security video of the actual wreckage). In my mind, this is the equivalent of asking Lindsey Lohan guard your cocaine or Mel Gibson watch over your vodka. Anyway, back to Barney, according to this report, ironically enough, the insurance company apparently had insisted upon a guard dog. Excuse me while I check on the fresh salmon I left marinating in the other room with my cats.

Good Lord!

I just glanced over my blog, and it's turned into the friggin Rockstar diary from hell! How did that happen? Sorry for not having an original thought lately. My brain is simply elsewhere, and it seems all I can muster is some snarky commentary on a reality teleivsion show. I fully appreciate how pathetic that is which is why I'm compensating by offering up a picture of Lindsey Buckingham playing his Turner Model 1-C-LB (the "Lindsey Buckingham").

RS/SN Week 5 - Elimination

So the genius of reality television is that they throw surprises at you every episode to make it impossible to predict the next outcome. Twenty four hours ago, I was certain Jill or Zayra would be eliminated by now. Turns out, Zayra wasn't even in the bottom three (how she wasn't and Patrice was reeks of a fresh mowing of the grassy knoll). Jill was, but she totally delivered and performed Heart's Alone without oversinging yet still showcasing her voice. I found this picture of Jill and her husband on his website (he's a professional musician, too) along side you'll-never-believe-who. Dana rounded out the bottom three and was ultimately sent packing, which was fine by me. She's 22 years old, and was totally out of her element and ill-suited to this competition. It was kind of anticlimactic for me, because once I saw Dana's performance, I knew she was done. Thus ends week 5, and one-third of Rockstar Supernova is over.

How Zayra has survived one-third of the show is impossible to comprehend. If, five weeks from now, she is still not eliminated, then I'm going to go hunt down Mark Burnett myself and read him the riot act.

Gilby Clarke announced that next week, their challenge is to individually write lyrics and a melody to a new Supernova tune. It wasn't clear, but I took it to mean that's what they'll be performing next week. That's good, solid competition and could really separate the poseurs from the real thing. I'm totally looking forward to that.

By the way, how sweet is the mansion?

RS/SN Week 5 - Performance Reviews by LA

He hasn't impressed me until tonight, but I gotta give it up for Ryan Star. He not only earned the encore for tomorrow, but that was actually one of the best performances I've seen yet on the show. You go, Ryan. I'm paying attention now, and I'm sorry I doubted you.

How would you like to follow Ryan? Well, Lukas didn't like it at all. It was written all over his face, he didn't know the lyrics to his song, it was in a bad key for him, and he completely tanked. Lukas could actually end up in the bottom three tomorrow night. I don't think he'll be booted, because Jill or Zayra will surely be gone by the end of tomorrow, but Lukas might have to sing for his life.

Let's discuss Jill and Zayra and get it over with. O.M.F.G. I actually think it's past the point of comedy and bottomed out to just plain cruel to let Zayra continue to flounder. She's truly like a fish out of water, and it's not funny anymore. It's awkward and embarrassing, and PLEASE, let's end the misery, hers and ours She's like the William Hung of this show. Stop it already. That said, what about Jill's stripper performance, pole-dancing the mic, and generally making an ass of herself? How about a double elimination tomorrow night, Jill and Zayra? They must both go. Now!

Incidentally, I think the band didn't fully shred and destroy Zayra so much tonight (even though she deserved it) because I think they were still trying to justify Phil's departure over hers from last week. That was something they didn't need to do since they leaked the uncut version of Phil's dismissal, but I see that the official story is still that "Zayra changes it up." Okay, whatever. Just my opinion.

I also have to give props to Josh. I don't think Josh has a snowball's chance in hell to even make it to the final six, but he sounded great on Santeria, and I really enjoyed his performance. Good show, Josh.

So, tonight was show-Magni-the-love night. I gotta admit when I watched the web episode on Monday, my stone-cold heart melted for Magni when he watched the home video of his son taking his first steps. And even though I was genuinely touched, the real reasons I like Magni are because he has a terrific voice, a load of talent, perfect instincts, a sense of humor, and integrity. He also has a huge upper body and a bald head, both of which I totally love in men. (Damn it, why does he have to have a wife and kid?) Magni's seriously a contender in this. With Lukas having an incredibly bad night, Magni moves up to top male contender. Until this week, I had him as the second male contender, but he's the #1 man now.

Dilana still has the lock for the women (word around the world wide web is that the man on whose shoulders she rode was her boyfriend in town from Texas), but Storm is for real, especially after her performance tonight. She really show-cased her voice with the Bowie song. Good times.

Of all the rockers who have performanced with the three Supernova guys, Patrice has fared the best so far. Dana's getting a lot of props on the web for her Who performance, but it basically left me cold. She looks completely unnatural being the the tough rocker chick.

And finally, Toby. Toby was in the preliminary bottom three at the end of the night. He's been skating by until now with average performances. It took him almost a full verse to really find his footing in Pennyroyal Tea, but he hasn't stepped up to the plate since he did Knocking on Heaven's Door early in the season. Toby's from Australia, and in case you don't know, let me just tell you that those guys are total horn dogs. So that's why I was laughing my ass off when he found the woman in the audience with the the most bodacious tatas and pressed himself into her at the end of his song. OMG, Toby, you are such a fucking dingo.
